COM 280 – Communication Internship I (3 credit hours)
Individual communication internships to be approved, supervised, and evaluated by an appropriate faculty advisor. May be repeated for credit. Pass/Fail only. P-Prerequisite override required.
This course supports students completing a 2026 summer internship in a field related to Marketing Communications. Its purpose is to enrich the internship experience by providing structured reflection, peer learning, and a sense of community throughout the summer.
Students will meet synchronously each week via Zoom (as their schedules allow) with the supervising faculty member and their classmates. These weekly “touch-base” sessions offer an opportunity to check in on internship progress, exchange ideas, share networking techniques, receive feedback, and learn from one another’s experiences.
Students are responsible for securing their internships prior to enrolling in the course. Internships must include a minimum of 120 hours of work. The internship may begin before SS1 and must be active during SS1 or SS2, with all 120 hours completed no later than the end of SS2.
